Cooking at camp

Our Story

The Dispersed Dietitian came from the way we already traveled: chasing quieter campsites, planning road trips around places that felt a little overlooked, and putting just as much thought into what we ate as where we parked for the night.

I’m Angela — a registered dietitian and writer with a deep love of both food and off-the-beaten-path travel. I’ve never been drawn to the version of outdoor travel that feels crowded, rushed, or built around settling. I wanted a place to share a different kind of experience: one rooted in beautiful dispersed campsites, genuinely good meals, and the kind of trip you remember long after you get home.

So that’s what this site became. Together with my husband Mitchell, I scout locations, test recipes, map out drives, and document the details I always want when I’m planning a trip myself: how a place actually feels, exactly where to settle in, and what’s worth eating along the way.

If something ends up here, it comes from firsthand experience, real testing, and a clear preference for quieter, less touristy adventures.

The Guide

Angela is the founder of The Dispersed Dietitian, a registered dietitian, and the one behind the vision for the site. She researches locations, scouts campsites, maps routes, develops recipes, and writes the guides that bring each trip to life. From the first idea to the final photo, she shapes the stories, meals, and planning resources that help readers savor the entire adventure.

Mitchell

The Camp Cook

Mitchell is the head chef of the operation and the person most likely to be managing the fire, cast iron, or final execution at camp. He helps develop recipes, fine-tune techniques, manage gear and setup, and make sure the food side of The Dispersed Dietitian is as practical as it is ambitious.

Sora

Sora

The Taste Tester

Sora takes her job seriously: campsite security, setup supervision, and staying very close to anything edible. She’s usually the first to inspect a new site and the last to leave the cooking area, always making sure nothing important gets overlooked.
